Adopting OER Materials with Barnes & Noble
BACKGROUND
Do you need to use Open Educational Resources (OER) in your course? Be sure to let your students know by entering your OER “adoption” into Barnes & Noble’s “Adoption and Insights Portal” (AIP). Here is how:
ADOPTION
Here is a quick guide how to adopt OER (free source) materials:
1. Click on the B&N icon from the gateway home screen.
2. Select Course list on the right. Then, select the term, Filter by: Faculty Last Name, then enter your last name in the next window, and click the spyglass.
3. If you choose "Show All Courses," all your courses and sections will populate below. If you select "Not Submitted Courses," only those courses will populate.
4. Select any course and choose an option to proceed. Most courses WILL NOT have any re-adoption options available for Spring 24. However, every semester from now on will be saved for future reference.
5. Select "Search by ISBN or Keyword" and enter "zzdirect oer". This will prompt a drop-down menu, then select “OER materials Used in This Course”
6. Now copy and paste the address for the free materials in the box labeled "Note for Bookstore"
7. Click "USE THIS BOOK."
8. Click “Submit Adoption” to complete your adoption.
